RITES HELD FOR MRS. SUDIE TAYLOR

 

Funeral rites for Mrs. Sudie E. Taylor, 95, were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, in Herren Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ray Rodgers, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Terry Cemetery under the direction of Howell-doran Funeral Home. Her Grandsons served as pallbearers.

 

Mrs. Taylor, the last of the county’s oldest set twins, died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, in San Saba Nursing Home where she had resided the past three years.

 

Mr. Taylor, the former Sudie Terry, and her twin brother, S.H. Terry, were born Aug. 23, 1871, in a log houe on the old McAnnelly place a few miles east of town, to Steve Woodson Terry and Volumnia Jane Adams Terry.  Her twin brother preceded her in death several years ago and she was the last of 14 children of her parents.

 

She was married to George Cook Taylor in July, 1892, here in San Saba.  Her husband died in 1933.  a lifetime resident of the county, she kept her own house until the past few years.  She was a member of the Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include three sons, ?Roy Taylor of Kingsland, George Taylor of Houston and Guy Taylor of Killeen; three daughters, Mrs N.J. Nicks, Mrs. Watt Brown and Mrs. Howard Wiley, all of San Saba; 20 granchilddren, 45 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two infant children and an older son, Prentis Taylor.
