OBITUARY DORA DEAN (LANE) BUSSEY


Dora Dean Bussey 92, passed away June 9, 1958, after an illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 10th from the Hanlon Chapel (Mountainair NM) with Elder Ira Chisum officiating. Pall bearers were; Riss Bishop, Mike Shaw, Zip Shaw, Pat Shaw, Elisha Shaw and Buster Chisum. Interment was made in Mountainair Cemetery. Survivers include four children; Monty Bussey, Claunch, N.M.; Simon Bussey, Belen, N.M.; Mrs Ruby Emory, Lubbock, Texas; and Mrs Willie Coker, Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother, John Lane of Sterling City, (Sterling County) Texas. Mrs Bussey moved to New Mexico in 1901 and to Mountainair in 1916 and had resided in this area since then.


  • NOTE: Dora Dean, first cousin to A J Walker, was born in March 1866. A J, now four years old, and his mother Sarah had only arrived in Lampasas county the month before and they were living with Sarah's brother George on Antelope Creek. Dora Dean's family moved from Antelope Creek in 1876 when she was 10 and Jackie was 14.
