Rogers-Calvin Orville Gunter, 71, of Rogers died Saturday at his home near Rogers as the result of a tractor accident.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Sheffield Funeral Home of Rogers with minister Allen Jenkins officiating.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. in San Saba City Cemetery in San Saba.

Mr. Gunter was born in San Saba and was the son of Volumnia J. Taylor and Moses Calvin Gunter. He was a graduate of San Saba schools and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was married to the former Louise Kelly in 1942. They lived in Rogers since 1945 where he was a farmer and rancher.

Mr. Gunter was an elder in the Church of Christ of Rogers and had been a member of the Rogers School Board for more than 22 years serving as president for most of that time. He was also active in the 4H Club of Bell County and was on the Elm Creek Watershed Board.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and two grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons, John Gunter of Rogers and Mike Gunter of Belton; two daughters, Donna Goodwin of Temple and Molly Bedrich of Midland; a sister, Doris Rowden of Dallas; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Cherokee Children's Home of Cherokee and to the Memorial Youth Fund of the Church of Christ of Rogers.
