This Web Page outlines the descendants of Thomas Lane born 1634. Thomas is the father of Joseph Lane born 1665 who moved from Surry County Virginia to Isle of Wight County and then to North Carolina. Next came Joseph Lane born 1710 who is the father of Jesse Lane born July 3, 1733 in North Carolina. Jesse is the father of Simon Lane and the grandfather of Alfred G. Lane. Simon moved his family to an area in Georgia that later became Alabama where Alfred G. Lane was born.
Alfred G.'s daughter Sarah married William A. Walker in Walker Co. Alabama and a few short years later William died in the Civil War. After the war Sarah and her baby son Jackie moved to Texas. Most of the descendants on this Web Page are the children of Simon and Alfred G. Lane, many of whom moved on to Texas before and after the Civil War.
In addition to Sarah, Alfred G. Lane had 7 other children by his first wife and 8 children by his second wife, Emily Clark, whom he married just before the Civil War and before moving to Lampasas County, Texas. Lou Lane, Aunt Lou who later married Jim Patton, was the only child of this second Alfred G. Lane family born in Alabama and she was less than a year old when this Lane family moved to Lampasas County.
Of the Alfred G. Lane children, all siblings to grandmother Sarah (Lane)Walker, we know the most about Juda Priscilla, Sarah's younger sister, who married Andrew Jackson Brown in 1864. Juda Priscilla and Andrew Brown had 12 children many of whom married into the Lane and Walker families and this is the reason that A.J. Walker had a major interest in the Browns. Three of Juda Priscilla's children attended the 1947 Walker Reunion. Callie (Brown) Shaw, sister of Andrew Jackson Brown, came to the reunion and at age 90 was the oldest person present.
