Isaac Scoggin's wife Sarah was born in 1779 in North Carolina. We are not sure where or when Isaac was born but most likely about the same time and place. Their son Jesse was born in Hardeman Co. TN in 1811 where Jesse married Nancy Hamilton in 1830. Isaac and Sarah along with Jesse and his second wife Elizabeth Yarbrough moved on to Arkansas in the late 1840's where Isaac died. By 1854 Jesse had moved his family including his mother Sarah to Sugar Loaf in Coryell Co. Texas. Two of their children were born in Arkansas and two more were born in Sugar Loaf. Jesse's older children Isaac and Sarah Elizabeth had been born earlier in Tennessee. Jesse's mother Sarah died at Sugar Loaf. This restless woman's jouurney that began in North Carolina, passed through Tennessee in the early 1800's, Arkansas in the 1840's and on to Texas in 1853 didn't end until she died at Sugar Loaf in January 1882. In 1942 Sarah had to make one last move to make room for the US Army to train for the invasion of Europe in World War II. Her remains were exhumed and reinterred in the Killeen City Cemetery where her tombstone stands high and reads "Gone On To Meet Her Three Husbands and 17 Children - Born 1779 -Died 1882". Today hundreds of Isaac and Sarah's descendants live throughout Central Texas and many are in other states as well.
