THE A. J. WALKER, SR. DECENDANTS held their annual reunion Saturday, July 11th, 2009 at the Senior Center at Mill Pond Park.

“89” family members and friends had a wonderful day of visiting, looking at pictures, playing games and “42”, having a lot of fun with a Silent Auction and a Bidding Auction for the children. We had a delicious Bar-B-Q and covered dish lunch followed by pies, cakes, cookies and home made ice cream. The theme was ‘Lots of Frogs’ and the room looked real pretty in green, white & blue. All of the frog centerpieces were given out as door prizes. Raffle prizes, this year, were a 5’x 2 ½’ photo collage of pictures from the early Walker family and reunions, a digital picture frame of those same pictures plus more current ones, and a tower fan.

These prizes were won by: Dorothy Cason, Sharon Cheatham and Nell McHorse, respectively. The ‘special winners’ were: Youngest – Avary Kelton, Furthest from the Youngest – Reba Stutts, Most Family Present – George and Nell McHorse, and Traveling the Farthest – Steven Pierce from Ypsilanti, Michigan. It is always interesting to catch up on the genealogy report that Eldon Pierce has in an ongoing family ancestral chart that he reports on from year to year.
